We’re Frontier, and it’s nice to meet you.

Let’s get acquainted before we consider working together.

Why ‘Frontier’?

We like to say that we’re surprisingly traditional for a digital-first organization. So why use the name Frontier?

Well, besides the fact that it was the name of our founder’s Grandpa’s engineering consultancy, we appreciate the frontier spirit – going into new territory, but not taking too many risks in the day-to-day of living there. The “pioneer spirit” is about going somewhere completely new. But it’s also about the hard work, careful planning, rationing, observing, and generally surviving while you’re out there.

Organizations trying to make the world a better place have already taken a huge risk, and are already on the frontier of a global movement to change the world. Do they really need to be any more “bold” or “out-of-the-box” in their marketing? Or do they need solid, measurable results that they can count on? There’s room for innovation, but it’s probably not in their marketing and communications.

FC Wins

Our wins are actually our clients’ wins. We have a Slack channel dedicated to celebrating when our clients have big wins. Here’s a selection of milestones our clients have experienced while on the trail with Frontier.

  • After focusing on basic fundraising campaigns, Ben led UGM’s digital strategy to create a multi-day match campaign to inspire donors to make their gift go twice as far. The campaign raised $87k online at the time but has grown each year to astronomical levels.

  • In the first year together Our Place increased their monthly donors by 21% and the donor retention rate jumped from 62 to 72%. The active donor file shot up from 6,000 in 2010 to over 13,000. The website has raised $17k in December 2010, processed nearly $50,000 in December 2012.

  • After relying on just over 100 donors in 2011, after three years together the Dandelion Society saw 2,582 people give in 2014. Over 1,000 new donors gave in 2014 compared to less than 90 in 2011.

  • Calgary Dream Centre Hits New Record Growth 2015Item description

  • In their second year working with us, Kelowna’s Gospel Mission acquired 1283 new donors, with a positive return on investment of over $40,000 immediately!

  • After leading them through digital best practices, and the implementation of donor-centric websites with Glass Register, the Dandelion Society and Welcome Hall Mission both doubled their online revenue from the previous year.

  • Initially, an organization is driven solely by major gifts and sponsorships, DFN partnered with Frontier to grow their annual giving. After three years, their revenue had more than doubled in print from under $200k per year to over $400k annually.

  • In their third year with Frontier, the Bissell Centre grew its print fundraising by one-third since our first year partnering together, brought about by a thousand more donations than 2016.

  • Giving Tuesday our clients combined to raise $533,413 in a single day, our largest daily total.

  • 25,292 donations given to our clients through email fundraising. Our best year, yet.

Working with Frontier

Our best clients call us partners and expect us to be there for the long-haul for them.

They understand that it’s not easy doing direct response fundraising but it’s not alchemy either. We take an annual sabbath week and most team members work a four-day work week. You know that burnout is a major issue in our field and you value our time and effort to produce great results.

What’s next?

Working with Frontier for the past several years, I am impressed by how they have not only raised the standard of both our print and digital campaigns but are constantly looking for ways to improve our communication with our donors. Frontier captures the essence of who we are as a ministry and articulates our story with engaging content and great design.
